Guide to extendable dining tables

An extendable dining table can transform almost any space. Whether you have a small apartment or a castle, a traditional scheme or a modern one, an extendable table could be just the miracle you need. They give you flexibility, as they can be compact and cosy for relaxed family dinners or huge and impressive for when half the village arrives.

At OKA we have a large range of extendable dining tables in many shapes and designs. We’ve picked out some of our favourites for you here, ranging from rustic to traditional in style.

The Winglefield is a rustic dining table of epic proportions. In its smaller capacity, it can still host a crowd of 10; however, when extended (the top folds out, supported by two braces and two extra legs) it becomes the height of entertainment, seating 18. Crafted from white pine with a hand-painted, rubbed black top and legs, the Winglefield could almost be an industrial work table; except our version has far more than meets the eye.

Our Petworth Extendable Dining Table is made from solid alder wood that has been stained and polished to a deep ‘French Walnut’. The deep glossy tone of the Petworth, paired with elegant turned legs, make it a classic piece that fits seamlessly into a traditional look. While this dining table may look understated, don’t be fooled by its seemingly small surface. Comfortably seating eight when its leaves are dropped, this show-stopper of a table transforms into an oval-shaped behemoth that seats up to 18 when it is extended. Imagine the dinner parties…

Meet the pinnacle of design and practicality combined: the Stola Extending Dining Table. Brimming with simple rustic style, Stola makes entertaining the masses easy. You wouldn’t guess by looking at it, but with this piece you can wave goodbye to the days of having to arrange an assortment of tables for your soirees. At its smallest this square dining table would fit four, yet when its additional leaves are added, it can seat up to 18. Crafted from alder wood, this extendable table is painted and stained a delicate Lichen Grey—perfect paired with benches for a farmhouse-chic look or complemented with a chair from a similar colour palette.

Crafted from beautiful ‘weathered’ oak, Charlotte features traditional proportions and smart turned legs—not to mention an Alice in Wonderland-like ability to grow or shrink when desired. This design includes four additional leaves, which when added, extend the table to seat up to 14. Drop leaves at either end allow it to collapse to a smaller size for storage or when not in the use, making it wonderfully practical. With an understated design, Charlotte would look equally at home in an industrial-inspired apartment as a country cottage.

Hopefully you’ve discovered the perfect extendable table for your space. So, the logical next step is to find the ideal chair to go with it. Our guide to choosing a dining chair will ensure everyone is sitting pretty.
