Autumn is synonymous with luxury, from the sumptuous textures of velvet, faux fur and leather, to jewel-toned colours and glimmering candlelight. It’s a season where glamour reigns supreme and one way to observe this is by introducing embellished cushions to your scheme. Amongst our vast collection of scatter cushions, you’ll find some show-stopping designs that have been hand-embroidered with metallic thread and beading in an array of wonderfully decorative patterns. The contrast of textures adds an extra dimension to any scheme, instantly lifting the room, and the craftsmanship is something you’ll admire and cherish for years to come. Take a look at your sofa: if feels a bit ‘flat’, then an embellished cushion will provide the final flourish to finish the look.
With a swirled baroque-inspired design on a 100% cotton velvet base, our Chaplet Cushions are the most decadent cushions we’ve ever encountered. The pattern has been painstakingly embroidered by hand using metallic frogging, the same technique used on many military uniforms. Available in four rich colours, it will perfectly complement an autumnal scheme.
Embellishment needn’t be restricted to traditional interiors. For modern sofas or armchairs, our simple checked and beaded Trellisé design (especially the bright pink version) would fit perfectly, as would the floral-adorned Portcullis pattern. Group together with plain velvet cushions or use solo as an accent cushion for maximum impact.
For embellishment that’s a little more subtle, choose a central motif design. Our Roundel red and gold cushions features an incredibly detailed coat of arms hand-stitched in golden frogging and felt, which includes a lion, a crown and fleurs-de-lis. The Heraldic-style cushion has a much more elaborate emblem of flowers, scrolls and leaves on a background of autumnal shades, all of which would be quite at home in a country setting.
If you’re totally enamoured with embellishment, why stop at accessories? Our Durbar Chest of Drawers features brass studding in a floral pattern on the front of each drawer and around the edges for a beautiful statement piece that’s practical too.
